The role of invisible factors in the emergence and elimination of poverty

Abstract

Economic poverty is one of the fundamental research topics in Islamic economics. From the perspective of the Islamic economic school, what is important in the comprehensive analysis and explanation of the phenomenon of poverty is to consider the invisible factors that create and eliminate poverty along with other factors. The present study, using an analytical-descriptive method, attempts to provide a more comprehensive view of the phenomenon of poverty and the factors that create and eliminate poverty, while referring to some verses and narrations in the field of poverty. Regarding the quality of discovering and analyzing the relationships between the rules governing the field of economic needs, three main stages are followed: "clarifying the concepts related to divine traditions", "discovering examples of the aforementioned concepts by relying on narrations for a better understanding of them", and "extracting the relationships between divine traditions". According to the research findings, the factors affecting the emergence and elimination of poverty can be understood through understanding the mechanism of receiving sustenance. Accordingly, "predestined sustenance" (including conditional and unconditional types) and "sustenance by grace" determine the quality of poverty or neediness of the individual through factors affecting the soul of the recipient of sustenance.
