Abstract

Identity as a set of ideas and beliefs that create attachment and dependence; from the perspective of the Supreme Leader's views, it is defined in three layers of religious identity, national identity, and revolutionary identity. The mosque, as the main base of the youth and adolescents of the neighborhood, in order to be able to build an identity; must represent these three identities in two hardware and software dimensions. From this perspective, the centrality and physical centrality of mosques in neighborhoods on the one hand and the extent of its role in glorifying religious rituals, strengthening local connections, strengthening local partnerships, centrality in providing services, and centrality in demanding and political affairs will revive the missing link in the identity-building of today's mosques. The main elements that create identity in mosques are the imams of the congregations as the main pillar of the mosque, the people, and cultural organizations. . Mosques can create a bond between them and the mosque by giving roles and responsibilities to the adolescents in the neighborhood so that their religious, national, and revolutionary identities are formed in light of their mosque and local identities. Therefore, a mosque can be an identity builder when it can increase social cohesion and participation in the neighborhood. On the other hand, Basij and other cultural organizations can further strengthen the relationship between adolescents and the mosque by entering mosques as an intermediate link. The following article uses the method of content analysis to examine the speeches of the Supreme Leader with the keywords of mosque and identity. After theoretical saturation and by eliminating duplicates, a total of 32 speeches and messages were selected and after coding, 106 categories, 10 subthemes, and 6 main themes were extracted from them.
