Abstract
Comparative Analysis of the Theoretical and Objective Challenges of Secularism Discourse in Deterring the Process of Modern Islamic Civilization Building
In light of the understanding of the foundations of Shi’i rationality as the theoretical basis governing the Islamic Republic and the concept of modern Islamic civilization, this research explains the intellectual and structural challenges of the discourse of secularism in the process of realizing modern Islamic civilization. This study seeks to answer the question: What are the objective manifestations of the challenges posed by secularism on the path of modern Islamic civilization building?
The results of this research, which utilizes documentary and library methods with an interpretive approach, indicate that the duality in the understanding and recognition of religious doctrines has led to various political prescriptions. The objective manifestations of these prescriptions include: the misconception of the co-essence of Christianity with Islam, the presentation of a minimalist interpretation of religion, the promotion of gender discrimination, opposition to the Islamization of sciences, and ultimately, the diminishing of the mission of the Islamic Revolution.
The findings of this study suggest that secularism acts as an obstacle at both epistemological and practical levels in the path of civilization creation. It appears that purposeful intellectual endeavor, scientific documentation, and intelligent discourse-building to persuade public opinion can serve as fundamental solutions for overcoming these challenges and achieving the goals of modern Islamic civilization.
